Subject: New Century Machine Shop, boynton pa Date: Tue, 5 Mar 2002 11:36:49 EST From: Lorija799@aol.com To: gearedsteam@yahoo.com The New Century locomotive is almost certainly the product of the same Boynton shop as the 20th century traction engine. As I understand it, the shop was owned by a Mennonite Minister by the name of Miller. The boiler in the picture is identicle in appearance to the 20th Century traction engines. Miller used a patented"explosion proof" boiler that featured a crown sheet that ( I think) sloped to the front, forming the flue sheet. The tractions were an early form of the undermounted type, like the Avery, and Millers patents were liscensed out to C. Aultman who also made a line of undermounted engines.
