C/Ns (A thru D?) - According to
the article "A Geared Locomotive For
Contractor's Use", four Byers
locomotives had been built by May 21, 1896. Three of these were known to be in service by the
owners noted in the table above. The A - D were assigned by this web author to denote
these four (4) separate locomotives. The true
construction numbers (C/N) are unknown.
It is quite interesting to note the several year lapse between the date the
article was written and the 1906 build date of c/n 160. This
might lead one to believe there may have been more than 5 documented locomotives built.
