The locomotive's name, "Barker", is visible below the cab window.  It is assumed the name originated from it's first owner, "S. W. Barker".  It is unknown how the locomotive served the San Francisco based construction company and why it is pictured derelict in Jamestown.  The image is part of the Martin Hansen collection.

The locomotive operated near McCloud, California.  It was the first 3 truck Heisler built.   It was named "Van Arsdale" after one of the railroad's founders:  William Van Arsdale.
