The top image appeared in a 1894 Climax Manufacturing Co catalog.   In both images, the name "A. Lichtenwalter" is lettered just below the cab window.   It is unknown who this individual was.

Note the unusual location of the air tank under the boiler, between the frame and just above the flywheel.    We thank Doug Edwards with identifying this "what is it?".

This locomotive survives.  Click here,  then look for "Class B Climax" then "Derelict Class B at Romayer, TX".   As of 2001, it is "rumored" to have been relocated to an unknown location in Canada.
